Mrs. Olivia Beroth graduated from Elon University with a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics and was a North Carolina Teaching Fellows recipient. Mrs. Beroth was a math teacher at Mount Airy High School for 6 years and has 7 years of experience in Christian Educational Leadership. She and her husband TJ have been members of Salem Baptist church since 2011 and they serve in various church ministries including Sunday School, Salem Basketball, Vacation Bible School, and Children's Ministry. Mrs. Beroth was saved and baptized when she was 13 years old and leads a weekly Bible study for young women. She and her husband have four sons, Tyson, Hunter, Micah, and Jasper, who all attend Salem Christian Academy.

Mrs. Melissa Welch has been a part of Salem since the third grade. She accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior and was baptized in the fifth grade. She is the Children's Director for Salem Baptist Church and oversees various areas including AWANA, Salem Basketball League, Vacation Bible School, and our Children and Adult Sunday Schools. Melissa has also served on Salem's nominating committee and as a member of the school board for Salem Christian Academy. She is a part of a small women’s Bible study group at Salem. She has a passion for the ministries of Salem Baptist Church and Salem Christian Academy. She and her husband Brandon Welch have been married since 2008 and have 3 daughters; Kendall, Dannie, and Charlee.

Mrs. Kelby Hall has worked in education for twelve years and has been employed at SCA since 2017. She graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College in 2017, where she obtained certificates in Early Childhood Education, School-Age Education, and Special Education. She is currently enrolled at Ashworth College to complete her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Hall has attended church her entire life and became a Christian as a teenager. She currently attends Simmons Grove Baptist Church, where her husband, Jacob, serves as pastor. She and Jacob have been married since 2013, and have two children, Joel and Jonah. When she isn't teaching, Mrs. Hall enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.

Kayla Holleman graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Lees-McRae College in 2019 and has been teaching at SCA since 2021. Kayla is married to Jeremy Holleman and they have been married since 2014. Together they have a daughter, Claire, who attends Salem Christian Academy. Mrs. Holleman attends Swan Creek Baptist Church in Jonesville, NC with her family and is an active part of the ministry there. She serves in the music ministry, AWANA programs, and Vacation Bible School programs at her church. Mrs. Holleman was saved at the young age of 5 and was baptized shortly thereafter. She and her family have a passion for serving Jesus in their home, church, and community. Mrs. Holleman’s life verse is 1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

My name is Robin Callaway. I teach 1st grade at SCA. I have 31 years of teaching experience. I live in Mtn. Park with my husband, Mitch. I have two children. Abby is married to Jon Hester and lives in Graham, NC. She is a deaf and hard of hearing teacher. Colby attends Appalachian State University where he is studying music to be a director of bands. My home church is Pleasant Ridge Baptist where I serve as the VBS Director, Organist, and Children’s Sunday School Teacher. My family and I love to work together on mission projects. I grew up going to church at Mtn. Park Baptist where I was saved when I was in the 6th grade. I love to watch the ASU Marching Mountaineers perform at football games. When at home, I enjoy gardening, cooking, and spending time with my family. My goal each day is to be an encouragement to someone!

Mrs. Misty Darnell serves as the second-grade teacher. She graduated from Liberty University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Darnell lives in Ronda with her husband, Michael, and their 19-year-old son, Mikey. She attends Thanks to Calvery Baptist Church in Elkin. In her free time she enjoys cooking, working outside, and traveling.

Mrs. Jeanne Ramey serves as our first and second grade teacher assistant. Although her degree is in Business Management/Marketing, she is an educator with over 15 years of experience in both children’s ministry and elementary education. Prior to coming to SCA, she was employed at Surry County Schools. Jeanne is married to Tony Ramey, a Deacon at Mountain View Baptist Church and General Manager of the Mt. Airy location of L.S. Starrett Company. She has two sons, NC State Trooper Carson Ramey and Dr. Caleb Ramey, a daughter-in-law, Adrian RN, BSN, and two precious grandsons, Abram Gray and Brady Carson Ramey. In her spare time, Jeanne enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors. Jeanne is an active member of Mountain View Baptist Church. She serves in their children’s ministry and other committees. On February 8, 1981, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, which she loves to share as the “best decision [she has] ever made!”

I'm Bekah Dunn, I have been with Salem Christian Academy since the 2018-2019 school year. I graduated from Lees McRae with a Bachelor's in Arts in Education and have been in education for 13 years. Before coming to Salem I taught preK for 2 years and tutored students from grades K-12. I love to write and learn anything about History. My husband Alan and I live in Yadkinville with our daughter Lydia. Alan has been a Yadkinville Firefighter/EMT for 20+ years. Lydia is my rambunctious, mischievous, and beautiful little girl who gets into everything. She loves to be outside and experience God's creation. I became a Chistian when I was 11 years old at VBS at my childhood church. I am excited every year to teach God's word, love and the gospel of Jesus Christ to a new group of students. My family loves to worship the Lord at Lakeside Church of Yadkinville. We look forward to being in God's house with God's people, and Lydia loves to worship and play with her friends in her class.

I am beginning my 38th year of teaching this year and my 2nd year at SCA. I received my bachelor’s degree in education from Winthrop University and my master’s degree in education from the University of South Carolina. Teaching is my passion! As a Christian educator for the past 23 years, I thank the Lord for the privilege to impact students in both their academic career and their spiritual walk with the Lord. I strive to show Christ’s attributes in all that I do and to integrate God’s word within each lesson taught.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy serving the Lord at Dobson Church of Christ where my husband Scott is the pastor. I enjoy worshipping on our Praise Team as well as being involved in Sunday School and our Ladies’ Group. Scott and I also enjoy our trips to the beach and the mountains where we can see God’s handiwork and beauty at His best. I love to cook and bake along with reading, needlepoint, and walking. I have three grown children who reside in Kentucky.

I am thankful to have been raised in a Christ-centered home where church was always a priority. I accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior as a freshman in college, realizing my need for Him daily as I ventured out into life beyond the comforts of home. He is always GREATER than I. My life verse is Galatians 5:22-24, and pray that the Fruit of the Spirit thrives within me and is evident in all that I do. May I exude Christ and bring Him the glory and honor that He deserves each and every day.

I am Gloria Best and I grew up in Mount Airy in the Bannertown area. I attended Mount Airy City Schools and graduated in 1984. I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and graduated with a degree in Middle School Education. It was there, at Charlotte, that I met the love of my life. My husband is Brett Best; he trained as a mechanical engineer. We married in 1990. God has blessed us with a strong marriage and two wonderful children, Sean and Sierra. My son is a doctor of physical therapy and my daughter is working toward becoming a Physician's Assistant. This past March, my son married and now I have a wonderful daughter in law, Stephanie Best.

My teaching career has been long and varied. I am a career teacher. I began teaching in 1988. My first class was in 8th grade and I taught Language Arts at Gentry Middle School. From there, I moved to Tharrington Elementary and taught for 12 years in 6th grade. I moved to Mt. Airy Jr. High for one year and began teaching at Mount Airy Middle School in 1999. I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grades in Language Arts, Math, NC History, World History, and Science. I retired from MACS in 2018. Then, I went on to teach English as a second language, ESL, at Surry Community College for a year and a half. Covid struck and I moved on to become a long term substitute during 2020 and 2021 for Mount Airy Middle. In 2022, I began tutoring for Salem Christian Academy and this past year, I taught Fourth Grade for SCA. I look forward to joining the middle school program and teaching Math, History, and Bible classes.

My family and I are members of Salem Baptist Church. We started attending Salem in 2008. We love Salem! I grew up in Haymore Baptist Church in Mt. Airy. I was saved at the age of 7. I waited until I was 16 to be baptized. I wanted to be sure that I knew what loving and serving the Lord truly meant. I love taking discipleship classes, our VBS program, Awana, and serving in as many ways as I am able.

When you get to know me, you will soon find that I have never met a stranger and I love to talk! So, you may not get a word in sometimes. My hobbies are reading, shopping, and boating. I think I could shop for door knobs! Purses are a high priority during shopping trips. Reading is a huge passion that I hope I never outgrow. I love mysteries, dramas, and historical fiction as well as Bible literature by authors such as Francis Chan and Max Lucado. I read two to three novels a week in my down time. I guess I qualify as an obsessive reader! In summer, I love going to the lake with my family. We enjoy boating each weekend that weather permits. My children get all kinds of carried away with shenanigans on rafts and we even pull out the Airhead couch occasionally.

Basically, I love life, children and our Lord. I guess I will teach until I can't physically do it any longer. If I ever have grandchildren, I may have to amend this statement. Children are the future! I can't imagine not being with them and learning alongside them as we navigate through life. Teaching is a blessing!

Mrs. Lydia Haynes graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Agricultural Education. Prior to joining the SCA family, she worked in Surry County Schools as an agriculture teacher. Mrs. Haynes lives in State Road with her husband Jeffery, who works at Next Level Collision in Wilkesboro. They are expecting a baby girl in October 2022! They attend Bethel Baptist Church in Ronda, which is the church her husband grew up in. She grew up attending Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in State Road, and they still visit there often.

Mrs. Sally Seidler serves as the preschool assistant and P.E. teacher. She conducted her undergraduate studies in Elementary Education at West Liberty University in West Virginia. Sally also serves as the Preschool Director in the Awana program, and serves as a preschool Sunday school teacher at Salem Baptist Church. Mrs. Seidler is married to Jay, who is a Physician with Novant Surry Medical Associates in Mount Airy. She has two boys and two granddaughters, of which one (Sydnee), attends Salem Christian Academy.
